Are there soldier classes in HaJ?

Currently there is:

Rifleman
Assault
Support

But this is subject to change, there may be more, there might not be any classes in the end.

Rifleman=plain infantry?
Assault=reconnaissance?
Support=engineer?

Sorry for bothering you,

Well currently the rifleman has a rifle...he is good for long range combat. The Assault has an SMG and more grenades so is good for charging and CQB. The support has a LMG and is good for surpressing the enemy at medium-long range.

Thanks, I have been itching to know for some time now.

Will you be adding a sniper class and HMG class?

frankly, we don't know yet.

Currently we have smg, support, and rifle, and we're still balancing that. Once we're done with that we could move to more, or even take classes out completely... or even just give everyone rifles.

The short answer is: we don't know how it'll be in the end.

Ok, thx for the quick response. :)

I can pretty safely say that Snipers will probably never turn up in the game, they were just too rare.

Snipers cause more problems than they are worth.

I agree. Snipers have an overinflated rep thanks to movies like Enemy At The Gates and Saving Private Ryan - IMHO they're a coward's class :)

...they're a coward's class...
That's a rather unfair and rather biased way of putting it across that you wouldn't like snipers in HaJ. Not, of course that I would like snipers, but rather that it is unfair to say that any person embroiled in WW2 is, or was, a coward without complete, and absolute justification.

In videogame terms, I mean. I completely respect the courage of any and all soldiers involved in armed combat, past and present. Apologies for any misunderstanding.

However, in videogame terms, the majority of snipers I've come across since MDK and GoldenEye first introduced scoped rifles to the shooting genre have been idiots who sit in one spot and don't move - even when they've been pasted several times in a row by the same opponent who clearly knows they're there.

I apologise for the misunderstanding, I must have mistaken HaJ for real life... :)
I would agree entirely, they can really get on you nerves. Especially in www.truecombat.com when they have a huge range of sniper rifles at their disposal. :)

So is "Assault" an NCO or Squad leader of some kind or is it one of those fluffy words you tack onto The-Guy-With-An-SMG Class?

I can run n' gun with the Sniper Rifle in Goldeneye quite well, thank you very much.

who knows? I know I don't...

we won't know until we release it.

It is hard to imagine how much we put into fine tuning every aspect.

Yup, and when it comes, we're going to love you all the more for it.

Know I haven't been around here in forever, but please say you won't really have nothing but rifles... just so I can sleep at night.

In the current build he has a SMG and more grenades than the other clases, he also has a smoke grenade and binoculars.

Now I'm pretty sure this will all change (we may have a sort of NCO class to direct stuff) but at the moment his role is CQB and providing cover and spotting.

His SMG becomes useless after so far, doing little damage. His smoke grenade allows him to advance or to block the enemies view and his binoculars (a sort of test idea that has stuck around) let him spy on enemy movement.

So the phrase "Assault" works well for him, as he is good for assaulting.

I think that would be a great idea, since most games turn into a sniper war :/

Some type of MG(maybe even static) or LMG would be nice.
