I don't want to start a whole 1.3 vs source argument here, but I was wondering what you guys were considering for gameplay style. The DoD community was basically split between 1.3 and Source for a varying array of reasons, but one main factor for none of the competitive players moving on was the skill cap encountered by the random CoF in Source.
A more realistic ballistics system
Whilst there are cone of fire based weapons, these cones have a “bullet weighting” system coded, resulting in a higher percentage of bullets landing in the middle of the cone. This allows us to have a tighter cone and adjust the accuracy with recoil you control. Bullets also lose kinetic energy over distance - in short a bullet from a gun does its maximum damage only over a certain distance. Over that its ability to hurt a player diminishes. This sounds extremely promissing, and if it's implemented well, the game could have an extremely rewarding learning curve. And though I know you don't want to focus on players kill/death ratio's, it does help to reward people that actually aim to hit the target rather than just randomly spray in a cone.
Skill doesn't have to be bunny hopping and railgunning your way to a 10:1 kill-death ratio, if you keep your focus on limiting random effects this mod could provide a niche for players who can't bring themselves to play DoD:Source and are bored of the old 1.3.
