Hey guys,

I'm an avid gamer (have been playing FPS since I was four years old [started with wolf3d] and I'm now twenty). I'm currently in school for Programming and have worked on a few mods here and there for different games/engines.

I've always been interested in game design and hope one day to open an indie game dev team on the side of a stable programming job (that's if there's any free time).

I see that your team is rather small and I bet you guys are all pretty busy (I saw that one person started at Crytek UK, congrats on that) and I'm just here to say that if you need a reliable tester/bug reporter, that I could lend my services to you. I'd offer to help with programming, but I'm too green to probably be of any service to you.

I know I'm new to the community and I won't become a tester probably for a long time, just wanted to let you know that I'm here to help if you need a few extra guys that you can count on.

I lead a gaming community with two other guys -> thegamewardens.com and maintain two gamemodes for ArmA 2 -> thegamewardens.com/bugtracker/

I am currently beta testing one of my modes to a closed group of players and I can understand your frustrations with people not doing what they are supposed to be doing. I just had a test yesterday for the latest build and everybody was too busy exploiting issues and whining about bugs (that I already told them about previous to the test). After the test, a grand total of 1/10 people reported bugs...

Anyways, I'm rambling!

I hope to see you guys around!

Welcome Gossamer! One of the higher ups will probably answer your request once they have the time. Until then, tell people about the mod, tell your community to join up and be active on our inactive forums hehe!

I will tell all my community members about it. We like Day of Defeat source, but we're getting bored of it and this seems to be one of the only viable replacements. I'm running an RNL beta 1.03 server right now, but there's only 3 maps and a few game breaking bugs... but it's still a good mod.

Can't wait to work with this one!

Gossamer,

The biggest problem we've had with beta testers is lack of commitment. They all come to us with tales of how they've tested lots of games and such and how they like Ham and Jam and want to help us test.

But then after two tests they stop showing up, then they stop responding to mails, and then they finally confess to not having the time, school/girlfriend/job getting in the way or just not liking Ham and Jam.

This is the problem - we need people who can commit to the tests and even if they don't 100% like the game will at least volunteer an hour or two a week to help us.

Again, this is why we don't just let anyone test because of the mentioned problems and we prefer people who have come by recommendation of the team or other reliable testers.

So I'm not saying no, but be aware that for all the good intentions is being reliable and honest that counts to be an HaJ tester.

I understand where you are coming from, as I've mentioned as well I had the same issues as you guys. I can only hope that you guys allow some more testers in the future and I can show you my dedication. I work 8 1/2 hours a day, have 2 hours of bus rides total and have to sleep 7 hours at least so I don't feel like shit every day. This means I approx have 6.5 hours a day (during the week days) and I'd be willing to donate 3 hours a day towards testing if required. On the weekends I could do more.

I saw your latest update and I really hope this game is out in the public soon, it has a ton of potential from what I can see!
