There are just so many gameplay issues with medics. Namely, selfish players. Sure in a clan match they would do their job but on the pubs they would be pretty useless.

Additionally, I personally find them gimmicky in most cases

give them only a pistol and knife or such, then players who choose the medic are not just choosing for the loadout, but more to help the team.

To be honest, with the game play in Ham and Jam you wouldn't live long enough to have any use of a medic. You'd be dead before they get to you.
