According to this:

It looks like there is no seperate sprint animation, only the legs move faster.

Well, WHATEVER you do, don't copy the DOD:S sprint animation as its the gayest thing I've ever seen.

Gun held across chest with both hands when sprinting FTW!!!

For a start there IS separate sprinting animations - WHICH THE VIDEO SHOWS. Plus the sprint animations we have now look nothing like that

Maybe I'm missing something but 18 seconds into that video you see the guy sprinting behind the other guy but it looks like they are moving at the same speed (the guy is not gaining ground on the other guy). The first person sprint animation is there but the 3rd person animation looks the same.

Anyway, the point of the post was, don't do what DOD:S did. They run like girls!!!

DoD:S tried to have something like this:

The problem is, in DoD:S you're not 800 meters away and taking withering fire from silhouettes in the hedges, you're in grenade-throwing range pretty much all the time, so it doesn't make any sense to hold your weapon like this and leave yourself defenseless. The result is, not only do DoD:S's soldiers look incompetent, but there's no transition at all from the normal stance to the sprinting stance.

hmm... it may be possible to experiment with a different sprint pose without having to redo the animation...? I remember in my old days of modding bf1942 I took the regular run leg animation and mixed it with a different torso posture. it was all done by editing code, no new animation required. Of course, this could all be useless info, given the vast differences in the two games, and my complete lack of understanding of the HL stuff.

That's what we do in HaJ. We actually use the HL2 crouch, run, sprint anims for the lower body and then blend the that with the top half having a 9-way blend animation for the weapon stance. The current sprint is just the upper aim anim.

As you can't actually use your weapon when sprinting in HaJ we will eventually make a set of specific sprint animations for the various weapons.
