Hey,

so, i just found this Site while i was searching for DoD:S Skins, and was suprised about this mod, i never heard before of it.
After reading all Infos in this Forum, i wonder if this Mod still alive ?
Becaus i guess it has potential to bring back "the old flavor" of Dod 1.3 and earlier.
( I started with the beta phase of Dod,....hell that was fun )

So, theres a lot more things i would love to know, thanks for all answers:

- Will there be All Weapons for the Germans, like the K43 (G43) ? And The Fg42 ?
( Im happy that the Mg34 is in :) )
- Will there be realistic Camouflage for the German Infantry from 1942/43 ?
- Will there be Fallschirmjaeger Maps ? (Paratrooper)
( i mean not Complete Camouflage, something mixed up would be great, i was common that they got very limited camouflage clothes, sometimes just a Jacket, sometimes just a helmetcover etc.) a fex pics:

- Will there be British Commandos ?

Greetings, and sorry for The weak english im from Germany ;)

Sorry for a late reply and I'm not sure I'd be the one to answer many of these questions for you, but I can at least attempt to allay your feeling of English ineptitude: Even one so illiterate as I was able to read your post and understand it quite well. Your English is fine!

As for the questions, I think the team may be considering including Fallschirmjaeger units at some point. That is definitely a possibility. When that may happen is unclear, and its eventuality is just me guessing, so take it for what it's worth.

As for weapons, that is hard to estimate. Much of the difficulty in adding weapons to the mod is that they all require separate animations for a good variety of actions, which is hard to do, in and of itself. Add to that problem the difficulty of finding enough animators who are willing to work for free in their spare time making high-quality sequences, and I think you see where it can be a real challenge.

As for camouflage, I'd imagine that's not top priority at this point, but with the uncanny skills of our art director spine and the other talented artists on this team, it's certainly not impossible that we'd have some camo textures at some later date. I know for example that I've made at least one model that might be well suited for camouflage. We'll see how that goes.

At any rate, take my response for what it's worth, since my main intention was to perhaps bump your question to the top of the forums. The game leaders, should they want to chime in with more accurate information, are the ones you should really pay attention to.

Cheers!

Hi Starscream, thanks for dropping by.

To answer some of your questions:

First of all, while a lot of the team come from a DoD background, Ham and Jam is not an attempt to make and "old skool" DoD type of game. We have drawn inspiration and idea's from DoD but Ham and Jam is it's own game and quite different in many ways. A lot of people who have tested for us came from DoD and tried to play HaJ the same way - it was quite a shock when it didn't work and they had to alter their style.

There is a possibility we will add more weapons. The current problem is we don't have anyone around at the moment to model, animate and texture the weapon models. Code wise, adding a new weapon is easy, it's the "art" part that is the problem. It's one of the reasons we haven't release yet is because we can't find anyone reliable to texture the weapons.

That said, it doesn't mean we will add all weapons for any reason. If we decide to add a weapon it will be based on how common it was, if it was special to a specific unit and if it brings any unique game play features and doesn't destroy balance. Ham and Jam is more about the class/role you play rather than the gun you carry.

Camouflage, etc. is down to the texture artist and again, finding someone to skin our player models has been a problem. Technically they will be as realistic as the texture artist makes them but we do have to make some considerations. For example, we only have a limited set of player models that have to fit into all the military theatres over the 6 years of the war. To that end some of our textures are very "generic" to make them the most flexible and feature the most common uniforms.

Paratroop maps have been discussed but it's not one of the initial game play styles we are implementing in the first release.

Hope that answers your questions.
