Been watching this mod and anticipating release for years as im bored of the usual US vs Germans set up.

Just poping back (came on here ages ago) to say the 1/5th Battalion, Queen's Royal Regiment (West Surrey), a realism unit run by 2 Reenactors of said Regiment are fully supporting Ham & Jam and will definitely be moving over to the mod upon release!

Got any good historical references, battles, etc. that would/could feature in Ham and Jam that your unit might of been in?

We're looking into what units we could add as the player models have a natty ability to change unit insignia. At the moment the Welch regiment is just the default but we can/will add others.

The 1/5th Queen's during 1944/45 as part of the 7th Armoured Division were involved in the Battle of the Brigade Box, Villers Bocage, Tracey Bocage, Operation Goodwood, Operation Spring, Operation Blackcock & Operation Plunder. Additionally they were at Dunkirk in 1940 and were at Tobruk, Gazala, both battles of El Alamein as part of the 44th (Home Counties) Infantry Division, in 1943 they were in the push into Tunisia, they also landed at Salerno and were involved in the crossing of the Volturno river in Italy.

As far as insignia goes this is the most common lay out of insignia worn, obviously by 1944 insignia was seldom seen maybe the odd shoulder title.

Thats just the battles the 1/5th Queen's (and the 1/6th Queen's & 1/7th Queen's part of the 131st (Queen's) Infantry Brigade) were in, the Queen's Royal Regiment (West Surrey) served in every theatre except Norway during WW2.

As you had 1st Battalion which was in Far East at the Start of the War and went to Burma, you had the 2nd Battalion which was in The Middle East and became apart of the Chindit Force after the fall of Singapore.

You had the 131st (Queen's) Infantry Brigade (as stated in my previous post) which consisted of 1/5th, 1/6th & 1/7th Battalions which was attached to the 44th (Home Counties) Infantry Division until it was disbanded in 1942 and became the Lorried Infantry Brigade of the 7th Armoured Division.

You had its sister Brigade the 169th (London) Infantry Brigade which consisted of 2/5th, 2/6th & 2/7th Battalions which as attached to the 56th (London) Infantry Division which spent the winter of 1942/43 in Iraq after being sent overseas in the summer of 1942 after defending the Kent and Sussex coast from invasion.

And when ordered to join the 8th Army, drove straight from Iraq into action at Enfidaville on 28th April. its approach march of 3,313 miles in 31 days, an average of 107 miles a day, is the longest in military history.

Both Queen’s Brigades took part in the landings at Salerno, 169 Brigade in the initial assault force and 131 Brigade landing later with the follow up force. 169 Brigade stayed out in Italy with the 56th (London) Infantry Division for the entire duration of WW2.

At the end of 1944 the 1/6th & 1/7th Battalions were removed from 131 Brigade and swapped with the 2nd Bn, The Devonshire Regiment & 9th Bn, Durham Light Infantry due to heavy losses and it became the 131st Infantry Brigade in Jan 1945 after losing its Queen's title.

Welcome to the forums! I very much enjoy reading about this unit's history. By any chance do you have any pictures of some of your reenactments?

I was going to say. I know original BD's go for a pretty penny in most places but re-enactors pay a fortune for the larger sizes for original kit. I didn't think they ever made BD's that large so my guess whas it had to be a SOF or K&K repro.
