Well it seems for those of you who do still play Day of Defeat Source, the devs are working on a new update for the game which should come soon. Just a quote from one of the devs:

We still don't have the resources available for a heavy DoD update, but Mugsy is working on an update as I type, including some new features and as much of the low hanging fruit as we can afford to include at this time.

No ETA or changelist as of yet, but due to its relatively small size, hopefully it wont be long.

Please take the CAMP discussion offline or to a different thread.

Linky to the page.

Will be interesting to see what they do, whether they address gameplay issues, add a map or something else. It's nice to know that there still maybe some life for the game.

I know what some of the changes are but I'm sworn to secrecy. :( They're good though. :D

Like adding the Grease Gun and bringing back the Carbine Class?

I wonder how good these changes will be? and I've also heard that Valve has at least one map in the making for DoDS.

Just wondering if they will release it before Christmas time.

My idea of good and yours may differ but somethings that were way overdue doing hopefully will get done.

I'm thinking (hoping) there may be changes to the COF, perhaps they've added new weapons, or maybe given other classes pistols too... the speculation could go on and on :D

All I would say is don't get your hopes up. Art assets take more effort than simple code changes.

Well my forum post about the update made the front page of CS Nation

http://www.csnation.net/index.php

Please note this may be pushed down as new news is added to the front page.

I still haven't seen any news about the update (new news btw). I would love for them to create one or two new maps with the update. =D

That won't happen I guess, I think it's just the new source version (2007)

I wonder when Valve will release the new Source SDK update to us and I wonder how long it will take for them to move CSS and DoDS onto the latest Source engine version.

You should read the DoD forums more. John Morello posted saying that DoD:S *is* being ported to Source 2007 and feature creep has been a problem with getting the update done. There are certain features that Valve want in ALL their MP games and hence Matt has no choice but to implement them.

All I know for sure is that the CoF is being addressed and there will most likely be at least one new map. Other stuff has been talked about but the internal delays/feature creep is what makes them less likely to appear.

I would be ahppy if they ONLY changed the COF ... for the better of course.
