Last of the summer whine.
Summer is over, fall is upon us and unfortunately that means that things are slowing down a bit for us on the team. The autumn term is in full swing for those of us in full-time education which means a return to the books and less free time for modding.
We have however done some bits and pieces. The player models we showed last month are now going through final compiling to get them into the game as class based characters rather than the clone army we had before. We’ve also been experiementing with a individual visual rank on each players model but more on that at a later date.
On the mapping side, we finally solved a mystery that’s bugged us since day one when we started our Pegasus Bridge map. On the Eastern bank of the Caen canal bridge was a “bunker” which Major Howard took over and used as his HQ. The problem is, we’ve never known exactly what this bunker looked like although we did a lot of analysis of photographs to get a basic idea.
Determined to solve this once and for all, Jed travelled to England and actually got to see the original briefing models used for the operation which gave us a great deal of information. Add to that a stroke of luck when by chance he found a photo of the inside of the bunker when browsing a magazine. We’ve been striving for realism in the game maps so this small, but important little detail really helps tie things up nicely. Needless to say, don’t expect to see a bunker looking anything like the monstrosity in Call of Duty!
We also planned a internal playtest for October but it’s been delayed for a week due to school/work commitments with the team. We’re considering bringing a few trusted non-team members in to help with testing, possibly even forum regulars, but at this stage it’s just under consideration - don’t get your hopes up too much!
