[Dev Diary] Spine speaks!
It’s time for me to write some words about my work here at HaJ. My name is Lasse “spine” Olsen and I help out with game graphics, that could be anything HaJ needs really, allthough textures is what I’ve done most of.
I recently got the chance to skin the British and Canadian uniform skins for the player model, Alun had started on the player skins but when I got the task I wanted to start from scratch.
It’s not my first player skin but the first WW2 army skin I’ve done and I love the accuracy thats involved with making such a skin. Jed’s model was already accuratly constructed after good reference and input from WW2 veterans, so that made my job easier. I did my best with help from the team and the resources available to make it as realistic as I could. We are all pleased with the result and it can be further developed into different company and country skins when we need it.
Then I moved on to the face skins, here we also had 1 skin made by Alun. I used that as a base and made 3 more.
We were looking to create a few guys with some character, looking a little tired from their combat experience and in different age groups. I am happy with the result but as always, never totaly happy so I might do small changes still.
Also Jed is working on something that can give these guys even more character, but that is something he will tell you about if and when it’s ready.
I am currently working on a world model Bren MKII skin wich is a first experience for me, and I have a long list of textures that needs to be done. Time to do work has greatly diminished for me since I got a 4 month old
baby to take care of as well, but with a supporting girlfriend I still get time do to work, oh life was easy just 5 month ago…
The rest of the team is all working hard on their assignments and it’s inspiring to see the game progress as it does.
I really feel this is moving along in the right direction.
I hope this gives our trusty community something to go on whilst we prepare the next media update which will be coming very soon and includes a very interesting way of showing my work!
