April madness!
April certainly has been an “interesting” month for both myself, and the whole dev team.
The marketing department is in full swing and Planet HL have given the mod some excellent coverage. All the dev team are making good progress, especially with the code and the feedback from the community has been nothing but positive!
We’ve got a cool system in place that runs off a SVN (Subversion) platform which basically functions like Steam. It means all the Dev team, mappers and main contributors have access to the latest build any time they feel like updating it. If a modeller makes a new map model, all mappers will be able to instantly increment their installation with the new model without having to download the whole build again!
It’s a great system although it hates 64 bit Windows, as does most software! I made the foolish mistake of moving to 64 bit a couple of weeks ago. I do plan on reverting back to 32 bit so I can continue working on my map again, but unfortunately over the next week I am pressed down with a project I have to do for a company.
Anyway, less of the present….more of the past! I am currently working on a St. Nazaire raid map for HaJ. Click here for information on the Raid. Its going to be a large map and currently stretches out over the whole hammer grid! Don’t worry, advancing spawns as well as divided objectives will over come the horrible pain of having to run for 10 minutes just to get anywhere!
At present, I have created the design plans, layout in Hammer, the old mole (initial Allies spawn), one warehouse and the old power station. I will start to work on the map again next week after I have skinned the HaJ forums and I will start by creating the old town, using some excellent normandy window/door props KominAaa has made.
